Are Breast Implants Safe?

WHY BREAST IMPLANTS

Breast augmentation has been the number one cosmetic procedure done in the United States for many years now. According to statistics nearly five percent of women in the United States have breast implants.

Implants are said to define and improve the appearance of lots of women who have small breasts as well as for those who want to increase their bust size for different reasons.

It might be also mentioned that breast implants are used in women who have experience cancer of the breast and had either one or both of their natural breast removed by surgical means.

For the most part breast implants are considered safe by the Food and Drug Administration but some women being different their varying opinions as to implants being safe or harmful.
There are several kinds of implants, Saline and Silicone, neither of the two have ever been directly the cause of any health issues in women although Saline implants are somewhat preferred over Silicone.

WHAT ARE SOME NEGATIVE ISSUES OF HAVING BREAST AUGMENTATION?

Some women have complained about aches and pains, headaches, fibromyalgia, thyroid imbalance and other symptoms as well.
It would be worth mentioning at this point that all implants at some point will develop a hole and leak, it’s just a natural occurrence, as all man-made materials break down over time and implants are no exception to the rule.

One advantage that the Saline implant has over the Silicone is that if it should happen to develop a hole in it you really can’t tell if it has failed or not it just gets smaller in volume on the side that the leak has occurred.

On the other hand the implants that consist of silicone if a leak should occur it’s really no big deal, the older implants were made a lot differently than they are today, they have more viscosity and are more dependable to a degree.

Silicone is the most commonly used implant but has gotten a bad reputation in the past.

There are still on going studies being carried out by the Food and Drug Administration to see if either the Saline type of implant or the Silicone type of implant has any reason for concern as far as being a cancer causing agent.

It has been suggested that those recipients of either Saline or Silicone implants do follow up inspections every ten years or so not to see if there’s a risk of cancer but for leakage, swelling or redness in the area.

OTHER ISSUES BEING TALKED ABOUT

Can a breast implant explode due to high elevation, when you’re flying or mountain climbing, the simple answer to that question is absolutely not.

The implants today are made of such high quality medical grade material that it would be impossible for that to happen.

Even when getting a mammogram or if the wearer were in a car crash the results would still be the same.

Is a woman ever too old to have breast implants, the answer is no but there are conditions that must be considered.

As a woman increases in age, her breast tissue changes, the skin tends to stretch and sagging comes into play. There must be in some cases a breast lift before there can be a breast augmentation.

There have been issues bought up by a few women, one of these conditions was called moldy breast.

It was said to have left one of the victims covered scars, with pain, fibromyalgia and other issues she says were bought on by the breast augmentation she had years previous.

If you are considering a breast augmentation, get all the information that is available to you.

Talk to your doctor to see if you are able to withstand having breast implants. Consider why you are getting implants, are the risks worth it.

Although most say that the procedure is completely safe remember this is not a difficult operation but pays the plastic surgeon very well.

All operations come with some side effects, don’t allow implants to effect your health negatively.

What causes back pain in women?

MUSCLE STRAIN

One of the most common causes of lower back pain is straining. This kind of pain is not just limited to a certain age group but can happen anyone at any age.

In lots of cases, upper and middle back pain is caused by overuse, muscle strain, or an injury to a muscle, ligaments and the discs in your back. Did you know that a bone in your back can be broken from only an injury or simply turning or moving the wrong way?

LIFTING THE RIGHT WAY TO AVOID BACK INJURY

Many people believe they know how to lift properly and safely. They
are then in disbelief when they injure their back during a “simple”
lift. After getting a back injury from lifting, many people will
comment, “but I even bent my knees!” Therefore, there must be more to
safe lifting than just bending the knees.

COMMON CAUSES OF STRAIN

Lifting a heavy object, or twisting the spine while lifting, Sudden movements that place too much stress on the low back, such as a fall, Poor posture over time, Sports injuries, especially in sports that involve twisting or large forces of impact.

A one-time injury that damages a muscle, tendon, or ligament is considered an acute muscle strain.

These injuries usually occur after a sudden, jarring impact or during activities that include heavy lifting or excess pressure on the spine.

Chronic strains, on the other hand, are caused by repetitive movements that gradually overstretch or tear the muscle.

Chronic muscle strain is more common in athletes or people with physically challenging occupations.

Stressful, repeated motions can cause muscles to tighten or tear.

Sports such as rowing, playing golf or even baseball can cause strain due to repeated, forceful movement.

Chronic strain may grow worse over time and pain can also get much worse if the muscles or muscle is already sore and then absorbs much more stress.

When low back and core abdominal muscles are weak, the lower back is more prone to injury.

Slouching forward in a chair adds much strain on the lower back muscles and on the spine. Also, tight hamstring muscles place strain on the back as well.

Lifting from the ground, or overhead are common causes of lower back problems.

Safe lifting methods include such as keeping the item you are lifting close to your chest and avoiding any twisting motion of the upper body while you’re lifting.

Starting a new sport or activity may lead to a muscle strain by putting sudden, unfamiliar stress on a muscle or group of muscles.

SYMTOMS OF PULLED MUSCLES

Strained muscles usually feel sore, tight, or achy. Pain that feels hot or tingling is likely caused an irritated nerve.

Low back pain worsens with movements of certain kinds that bother the affected muscles. An example of this would be a flare-up of pain when sitting down or getting up from a seated position.

There can also be pain when bending forward or when you get up from a laying down position.

Typical movements may be limited when a low back muscle is strained, making it difficult to bend, shift position, or walk for extended periods of time.

A strained muscle can become inflamed and feel very tender to the touch. Muscle spasms and cramps that can produce excruciating pain and very limited movement and the affected area may also be swollen.

WHAT CAN BE DONE TO EASE BACK PAIN

The use of heating pads increase circulation, which improves healing and relieves tension on the strain muscles.

Heat therapy is usually recommended starting about 48 hours after an injury. Apply a towel between the heating pad and the back to prevent getting burned.

Applying heat before starting an activity can reduce pain related to the body movement. Applying the heating pad for a few minutes can help tremendously before getting out of bed and will alleviate some stiffness.

A simple massage will increase circulation and relax muscles, the massage will improve the range of motion and help decrease pain.

Walking can work wonders to reduce pain and being active is important to keep your spine healthy. Walk as little as five minutes a day can relieve lower back pain and the associated stiffness and discomfort.

Avoid strenuous activity and heavy lifting. This can intensify the pain and actually worsen the condition.

In addition to heating pads you could also apply ice packs to the affected area. Please limit the application of ice packs to no more than twenty minutes at a time, up to 10 times in a twenty-four-hour period.

MEDICATIONS FOR BACK PAIN

Your choice of over the counter pain relief depends on you. If you are aspirin sensitive, stay clear of any product that contains aspirin.
Acetaminophen tablets are probably best for you if you have high blood pressure or heart condition or other underlying issues that may intensify by the use of certain over the counter medications.

If ever there is doubt about what would be best to take the smart move would be to see you doctor.

What is Fasting?…is it safe?…what are the benefits?

WHAT IS FASTING?

Fasting is the act of abstaining from some or all food or drink, especially as a religious observance.

Some people who fast, say that they have noticed that they have increase energy, better digestion and has helped in maintaining an ideal weight.

Let’s establish what intermittent means first of all, it means that this is not doing without food or drink for long periods of time but at irregular intervals.

This could mean that you only ate at a certain hour of the day or maybe you skipped a day and ate and drank on odd or even days of the week.

This is entirely up to the individual as to the time of day or the number of days they were going to fast, abstaining from food or drink or both.

DOES FASTING HEAL THE BODY?

What conditions are healed through fasting you might ask, fasting itself does not heal the body but just like many other live entities the body possess the power to both cleanse and heal itself.

What fasting does is give the body conditions on which it heals and cleanses itself.

As we medicines to treat our ailments and diseases, this adds to our body toxicity which is of not benefit whatsoever to our body.

As the body gives us signals that its trying to heal itself by acting abnormally according to the way we’re led to believe, let me describe it this way if your car has a “service engine” light to come on should we ignore it or cut the wire leading to the light?

If we cut the signal wire that says something has gone wrong and is giving us a warning sign we should pay attention to the warning not cover it up or let go untreated.

Like we stated earlier, fasting gives the body the opportunity to heal what’s wrong with it naturally.
Fasting is good for your body but done wrong it can be dangerous and long-term lasting consequences.

WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR BRAIN WHEN YOU FAST?

As you are well aware the brain is one of the most important parts of the body and it is the part of the body that you should want to run perfectly all the time.

Intermittent fast is said to help to increase the brains power and that it is fasting not eating that causes the brain to run in tip-top condition all the time.

WHAT ARE SOME BENEFITS OF FASTING?

You may wonder what are the benefits of fasting. One good benefit of fasting is that is causes your body to rest, Even in the Bible fasting is mentioned for spiritual enlightenment
and also modern day medicine says that fasting allows your gut to rest and naturally build your hormone level.

If you suffer from leaky gut syndrome, constipation or diarrhea intermittent fasting can work wonders for these conditions and let’s not forget weight loss and detoxification.
Other benefits include blood sugar control by reducing insulin resistance, helps fight inflammation, enhances heart health by improving blood pressure, boosts metabolism, increases muscle strength, delays the aging process and could help in the prevention of certain cancers.

NEGATIVE SIDE EFFECTS OF FASTING

There are truly some great benefits to be had by fasting but the downside is there is also some negative things that can be caused by fasting.

If you are a person that suffers from diabetes or low blood sugar, fasting can cause spikes in your blood sugar and cause crashes which are dangerous.

It is best to seek the advice of a doctor if you plan to fast for periods that exceed twenty-four hours.

Attempting to fast could offer great results but it could be unhealthy if done wrong.

One should consider their age and medical conditon before any fast is attempted.

Water fasting could dehydrate the body to a certain degree and could cause problems if continued for long periods.

The same things apply when it comes to abstaining from food for long periods of time.

Use some discretion and not jump into fasting just because someone said the benefits were to great to ignore.

A healthy individual should start a little at a time until he or she has been conditioned for longer periods of time. Think safety whatever you do!

By definition Sickle Cell Anemia is a chronic inherited anemia that occurs primarily in individuals of African, Mediterranean, or southwest Asian ancestry who are homologous for the gene controlling hemoglobin S and that is characterized especially by episodic blocking of small blood vessels by sickle cells also called sickle cell disease.

Sickle Cell Anemia is a genetic disease and affects the red blood cells. It changes the cells from a flexible disc into a rigid crescent shape.

When red cells take this shape veins get blocked. This can cause damage to many organs. The organ damage increases with time and leads to an early death.

This disease starts in childhood and lasts for a lifetime. When the cells take on the shape of a sickle, the cells also become sticky.

This causes difficulty in blood flow when cells flow through long narrow veins and capillaries. Low oxygenation occurs when the cells go through low oxygen areas and only complicates this already horrific disease.

CARRYING THE TRAIT

If anyone inherits one sickle cell gene and one normal gene usually don’t have any of the symptoms of the disease itself but the bad news is they can pass the disease to their children.
If a child has both parents that has the trait then the child has a 50/50 chance of having the disease. When the child has the trait of the disease he or she can pass it along to his or her off-springs.

Health issues for women in their 20’s…….Pap smear what is it?

SCREENING TO AVOID POTENTIAL PROBLEMS

PAP SMEAR

A pap smear is a simple test performed by a gynecologist to test for
any cervical changes. It tests for cancer and other malignancies such as reproductive problems

A pap smear is given by gently swabbing the cervical area. This removes cells from the surface of the cervix that can be analyzed by a doctor to test to see if any problems exist,

There are a number of screenings that women in their twenties should have done. Among them is a pap smear, this screening starts around the ages of twenty or twenty-one and continues until the age of twenty-five.

This test is done to determine if they have any sexual transmitted diseases as well. This test is an on going test even if the woman has no symptoms at all. Normally given only once a year, this is to protect future fertility.

WHAT’S THE COST OF A PAP SMEAR

pap smears are 100% covered for women that have insurance. Perhaps the patient has no coverage or are financially unable to pay, in those cases’ pap smears are provided free. You can contact a local health center to answer any questions that may concern you.

IS TAKING A PAP SMEAR A LONG PROCESS?

No absolutely not, a pap smear only takes a very few minutes to perform. It is done to make sure that there are no cancerous tissues present on the woman’ cervix. Getting the results from the test can take up to two months.

IS IT CRITICAL THAT I GET TESTED?

All girls should have Pap examination, and is more critical before the young woman has become sexually active. All women should without a doubt have this screening. If no problems are present the patient should set up an appointment to be seen by her doctor at least once annually. If the test show a possible problem, the issue can be treated at home or by a qualified care giver.

DOES A PAP SMEAR HURT?

The truth is a pap smear doesn’t really hurt at all when you get one. There isn’t really any pain associated with getting one just the awkwardness of you legs being in two metal stirrups with someone looking into your private parts.

The act of someone peering at you in that special place is one that you can get over and then after that it’s a breeze. Everyone is different in that area of their body so it depends on the patient whether there may be some discomfort when the tools are inserted in the opening of the vagina.

The insertion of the tools is where some more uncomfortable feelings can happen. It can feel more or less like pressure or a very slight pain. If you are a virgin or tighter in that area, this may be a very uncomfortable minute or two for you. Just simply relax as much as possible and breathe as normally as you can.

SHOULD THERE BE BLOOD AFTER THE PROCEDURE?

It is nothing to be alarm about if you experience a little blood after a Pap test, you don’t have to worry if this occurs with you. If you should have a spotting of blood that continues after the test and it’s not your time of the month, see a doctor for this as soon as you can.
